We want to collaborate with you to update our origin ILIAS with a new spirit and turn it into the simple yet functional tool that we all deserve.
UdonLMS is reliable on every level.
UdonLMS is a tool. It extends our capabilities instead of demanding attention.
UdonLMS provides robust core functionality that can easily be extended to fit individual requirements.
We believe that these goals are best achieved collaboratively, by bringing organisations and individuals together into one common effort. Our collaboration is guided by a few core values:
Not everybody needs an equal say, but everyone should know who decides what, and why.
The time, money, energy and passion we put into this project should lead to tangible results that make the investment worthwhile.
Even though organisations may provide the backing for this project, it's people working together at the end of the day. Every contributor deserves to be recognised and valued.
UdonLMS grew out of the research project Essential ILIAS '27.
The University of Bern and CaT Concepts and Training GmbH launched the project in late 2025 to evaluate whether a new direction for the codebase is viable, and to complete projects we have been pursuing for some time.
Along the way, we are working towards clearing these milestones:
This is just the beginning. We are sure there will be many more ideas and proposals for turning UdonLMS into the tool we all want – and we'd love to hear yours.

We are currently working on establishing UdonLMS as a lasting endeavour. Our ideas, direction and values have taken shape, but many questions regarding the future governance of UdonLMS are still unanswered. Will we set up a legal entity? If so, what kind? What positions and committees will we need? How will we make decisions? How will we be funded? We don't know yet.
We're looking for organisations and individuals who want to help answer these questions and build a lasting organisation for UdonLMS with us.
Reach out to Yvonne Seiler or Richard Klees and let us find out if and how you could become part of UdonLMS.
Even if you can't see yourself commiting to UdonLMS long-term, there are plenty of ways to help make it happen right now:
Either way, Yvonne Seiler and Richard Klees are looking forward to hear from you!
You're curious about UdonLMS? Wondering what it could do for you or your organisation? Or do you simply want to know what we're up to and how our day is going? Whatever's on your mind, we'd love to hear from you.
You know what they say: There's no such thing as a silly question. So please don't hesitate to get in touch if you want to know something – for example:
Just drop us an e-mail. You'll definitely reach someone who is happy to help:
Not sure who to ask? Don't worry about it and just flip a coin. We'll make sure your message ends up in the right place. Or simply use this
There's no need for formal introductions – a few lines are plenty. Please keep in mind that we're a small team still, so it may take us a few days to reply. But we read every message we receive and will get back to you. Feel free to write in English, German, French or really any other language you can think of.
If you've got some ideas or are thinking about contributing to UdonLMS in any way, maybe even joining our project, head over to Collaborate to find out how.
Cheers!
